As choreography doesn’t explain dance, composing doesn’t explain music and taste doesn’t quite evoke flavour, transmedia is an approach to storytelling that invites fun and participation rather than a quick fix.

In 2009, in the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED created TEDx, a program of local, self-organised events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is call TEDx Transmedia, where x=independently organised TED event. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organised.
